ART-RITE #20 PEARL GIRL, an operetta New York, 1978 | Published to accompany the 2009 exhibition at Glenn Horowitz Bookseller in East Hampton, this informative catalog takes its format from a 1976 issue of Art-Rite magazine that focused on artists' books and included the writings of more than 40 artists working in the medium. Contributors such as Sol Lewitt and John Baldessari collectively provided an open-ended definition of what an artist's book is. Curator Jeremy Sanders, following the conceptual framework of Art-Rite's fourteenth issue, provides an overview of the work of ten young artists whose practices involve the making of books: Tauba Auerbach, Fiona Banner, Chris Duncan, Roe Ethridge, Terence Koh, Jason Polan, Seth Price, Dean Sameshima, Paul Schiek, and Derek Sullivan. |
